EDITOR LETTER Dear Dads (from All Moms)

This is a letter from me to my husband, but it’s also from all moms to all the dad of the world.

It was two of my life’s most joyful moments when I saw our newborn children for the first time. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to feel the heartbeat of maternity. No language can ever express the feeling.

I have to be honest with you, it’s hard to be a mom when you think it is my job to raise our child. Yes, our kids cry out for me when scared but it doesn’t mean they don’t love or need you. Paternity doesn’t begin when our kids calls you Daddy.

I’ll tell you a secret -- both breastfeeding and using infant formula are hard, just not in the same way. You can pitch in by helping me with the formula or simply by accompanying me as we breastfeed. Sometimes I just need you to say thank you and to be supportive, whether I decide to work during the day or to be a stay-at-home mom.

I chose to have our babies and that’s my responsibility but it’s a responsibility I share with you. Sometimes all I need is a kind word, a token of your love or a hug.

Remember, our kids learn from us how to communicate with each other. Let’s show them how we do things and set a good example by taking a trip together as a family and showing them how much we love each other.

I love you and I know you love me. I realize that sometimes it feels like they turn to me first but I promise you, our house is a home because of you, because of our union. After all, our kids are the greatest fruits of our love!
