Hello! My name is Mary, the caregiver of Hippo class. It's been 2 months since I joined Sunshine Home and I really love this job. The first reason that drove me to join Sunshine Home was the Montessori philosophy of education. I was so curious about Montessori and how children learn things in a free to choose environment, and how it helps children grow up in a free and happy learning environment. I'm the mother of two children, and I'd really like to take this opportunity to learn valuable parenting experience.
I remember the first day I came to the classroom and saw the children’s innocent faces. I was impressed with the classroom atmosphere, which is free but orderly. Most of the children can pour water, drink, line up, go to the toilet, clean their work, and dress all by themselves. Gradually, I learned a lot from my former caregiver, Nancy. At the beginning I felt out of place, but then after studying and learning about the children, I started to get used to the new environment. I truly felt that I belonged when the children began to call to me and I enjoyed their company.
As a pre-school teacher, it is important to be loving, patient, and responsible. I have enjoyed my time so far at Sunshine Home, and working with the children. Looking ahead, there is still much to learn, and I am looking forward to it.
